1 During a private visit for medical treatment to the United Kingdom (‘UK’) on 17 October 1998 General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte, former Head of State and dictator of Chile (see also Heads of State), was arrested by the London Metropolitan Police on an international warrant issued by the Spanish examining magistrate Judge Baltasar Garzon (see also European Arrest Warrant).
