1 The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (‘UNHCR’; ‘Office’), more commonly known as UNHCR or the UN Refugee Agency, is one of the world body’s chief humanitarian organizations. It was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in both 1954 and 1981. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it was given a core mandate to protect and find solutions for refugees .
