1 The Western Sahara advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) of 16 October 1975 deals with legal questions in the context of the decolonization of the territory of Western Sahara (Western Sahara [Advisory Opinion] [1975] ICJ Rep 12).2 In 1884 Spain seized control over Western Sahara and declared it a Spanish protectorate (Protectorates and Protected States).
