1 Initiated in 2008, the Abyei Arbitration concerned an internal boundary delimitation in the context of Sudan’s North-South civil war ( Sudan ). The boundaries in question having already been delimited through the processes provided for in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (‘CPA’), the dispute presented the question of whether the expert panel responsible for performing the initial delimitation exceeded their mandate.
