This chapter considers the various projects which have been planned over nearly six centuries, aimed towards a perpetual peace between the European nations. These projects essentially concerned European countries from the Middle Ages up to the eve of our times, that is, the contemporary period up to the mid-20th century, including the creation of the UN just after the First World War.
