This chapter addresses the rules of international law governing export control measures. It first considers five important cases that have been decided under the GATT/WTO dispute settlement mechanism. It then discusses WTO rules on export measures, export tariffs, natural resources, agricultural commodities, security exceptions. It also briefly describes the treatment of export restrictions in bilateral and multilateral preferential trade agreements (PTAs).
