This chapter first discusses the breadth and location of the territorial sea. It then considers its juridical status; examines the navigational rights of foreign flag vessels in the territorial sea; and highlights some ‘other rules of international law’ and actions of international organizations that apply there. Finally, it explores the contiguous zone.
