From the Editorial Director

We are very pleased to announce the launch of the first new modules in the Oxford Reports on International Law since 2008. The two modules, International Law in EU Courts and International Trade Law Decisions, bring us much closer to our desired goal of bringing our users all of the case law that is relevant to diligent researcher or practitioner of public international law. The editorial approach to these modules is much the same as it is for International Law in Domestic Courts: we aim to cover those decisions that are informed by or have a bearing on public international law more broadly rather than issues that relate solely to EU law or the law of WTO or regional trade bodies. Thus we rely on the discernment of our general editor, Professor Jan Wouters, and his team of reporters to select appropriate cases and so we include decisions such as the ECJ’s Bosphorus that deals with the validity of the implementation of sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council and the the WTO’s China-Rare Earths case is reported because of its contribution to our understanding of customary international law rules on treaty interpretation.

As these new modules grow and mature it is our hope not only that they will enrich your research experience but will also make more specialist case law accessible to the international law generalist.
