  The Optional Protocol (OP) to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was adopted by consensus by the UNGA on 6 October 1999.2 It was opened for signature, ratification, and accession for all States parties to the Convention on 10 December 1999 and entered into force on 22 December 2000.
