1 The notion ‘refugee’ can be understood from a sociological, political, or legal point of view. In a broader sense, a refugee is a person who flees his habitual place of residence and seeks refuge elsewhere. Persons may leave their homes because of natural disasters or because of man-made situations, especially out of fear of persecution, war, or other circumstances, menacing their individual sphere of interest.
