Nothing in the present Convention shall affect the rights and obligations of States Parties under existing international agreements which relate to matters dealt with in the present Convention as between the parties to those agreements. Article 26 stipulates that, in the event of inconsistency between the provisions of the Convention and rights and obligations under any existing international agreement to which States parties to the Convention are parties, the latter are to prevail.
