24.1 As Aust1 has noted ‘The UN specialized agencies are not part of the United Nations … But they all have relationship agreements with the United Nations and are regarded as part of the “UN family”’. On important political matters, such as recognition of statehood, they generally follow the lead given by the United Nations.
