Compensation is a prevalent remedy, typically in cash or its equivalent, calculated to make good elements of loss of, or injury to, legally protected interests. It is commonly employed where the loss or injury can be quantified in money terms, but can include recognized non-pecuniary injuries, such as emotional trauma associated with violations of human rights.
