Yamashita v. Styer, No. 61 Misc. and No. 672, US Supreme Court, 4 February 1946, 327 U.S. 1 (1946) During World War II, General Yamashita commanded the Fourteenth Army Group of the Imperial Japanese Army in the Philippine Islands. He surrendered to the US Armed Forces in Baguio, Philippine Islands on 3 September 1945 and became a prisoner of war (POW).
