Gacaca (pronounced ‘gachacha’) is the term used to describe the transitional justice mechanism established in Rwanda to prosecute and try some of the individuals suspected of having committed genocide or crimes against humanity between 1 October 1990 and 31 December 1994 in Rwanda.
