IHL, also known as the law of armed conflict, forms part of ICL. The ICL of war crimes in turn forms part of IHL. ICL and its application through international criminal tribunals (international criminal justice) are increasingly important for the implementation of IHL. In this contribution, I will first try to define and differentiate the two branches.
