Norms protecting the rights of the accused are contained in Articles 66 and 67 of the ICC Statute, dealing respectively with the presumption of innocence and with all other guarantees of a fair trial. Often, the bulk of guarantees that will be discussed in this study are generically referred to as ‘right to a fair trial’ tout court.1 This simplification is essentially correct.
