At the end of its fifth session, on 30 June 2000, the Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court finalized the draft texts of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the Court, and of the Elements of Crimes, in accordance with the mandate received from the Rome Diplomatic Conference which adopted the Statute of the Court.1 With regard to both documents, meeting the deadline set forth by the Final Act of the Conference was not an easy task.
