1 The concept of legitimate interests in European Union (EU) data protection law is an open-ended legal standard, used mainly in relation to data controllers. Processing of personal data for legitimate interests of data controllers or third parties constitutes one of the grounds for lawful processing of personal data in the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’).
